live client project

since talking futher with my client over the last couple of weeks. i have come up with a re design to better suit my clients wants and needs. My client wanted a website the was alot funkier! the first design looked to much of a standard, generic website.

As you can see the name has also changed, this is due to domain name avaliability, although there will be one ammandment, insted of "art" it will be "canvas". this is to fit in more with what the shop will be selling.

I am currently finishing off the php and mysql back end of the website. this will enable customers to upload there own images onto the website to be but onto canvas by my client. the client will be able to log into secure admin pages and add, update, and delete articals as he pleases. and a small order form will be made so customers can email my client with orders.

So far everything seems to be running on track and the client is happy with what he has seen so far.

exhibition logo

We have now finalized the logo and branding for the final exhibition in june. I designed the text and logo to be clean, simple and very professional looking. Black and grey colours with helvetica font create this feel.

This branding will be used on any promotional material to advertise the exhibition, as well as being used for the interface for students work and the signage and branding in the exhibition itself.

personal research project

My second artefact was a Flash mini site. I wanted to look into increased user control online. Flash can create web pages where the user has complete control over content, layout etc...

i wanted to see how people interacted with my mini site which had a lot of user control in the sense that the navigation bar could be moved, all content could be hidden or moved around.

The info i got back from people was not what i expected! people actually said that the pages could get cluttered, messy and confusing because users could put things where they wanted!

Also, from a technical point of view, this type of design constitutes to serious accessibility and usability issues. It also brakes fundamental web standards!

So all in all, i found that Flash can be over used and used where it is not needed! This experiment was a case of Flash over use!
